Publishing is a module in the Kalcium platform that lets you keep all systems and areas in need of terminology management in sync. Think of Publishing as a centralized "source of truth" in Quickterm that brings precision and versatility to all terminology processes.
Supporting pretty much any file format (e.g., TBX, CSV, XLSX, JSON, XML or even PDF), Publishing enables you to keep target systems continuously up to date with the exact terminology and metadata needed, all in a completely automatic and transparent way.Â
This is how Publishing is able to support TMSs, machine translation engines, AI tools, authoring tools, and many other content and localization systems.
Publishing allows you to:
- Select and filter exactly the set of terms and metadata your target system needs.
- Convert and map data into the exact format that can be imported or sent to the target system's API.
- Enable integration and orchestration, making language data available in every system (e.g., TMSs, authoring tools, NMT engines and AI apps)
- Easily print or publish content to different glossary formats
- Centralize terminology into a single source for company-wide access and consistency across systems
- Use termbase connectors to publish terminology updates to other term bases, translation environments or applications
- Filter by multiple criteria, including the terminology related to a single domain or subject matter in two languages, or only the terms that have been added or updated from a previous export.
With the Publishing module, integrations with other systems are a breeze. Connect and publish/export your terminology to multiple systems, including RWS MultiTerm, Trados Terminology, WorldServer, Acrolinx, memoQ, Phrase, XTM, and PoolParty.
Functional Principle
Kalcium Publishing accesses the termbase to run an export. Both entry and term filters can be applied here. The export is temporarily stored in a MultiTerm XML file. This file can then be processed through various transformations into the target format, for instance PDF.
Output Channels
In addition to downloading, other channels available for output include file system paths, FTP/SFTP servers, API (connection of any target system by passing the data via API call), and external termbase repositories (e.g. sending the changes to a WorldServer termbase). Supported external repositories include e.g., MultiTerm Server, Trados Terminology, Acrolinx, and PoolParty.
The basic functionality
Each publishing task consists of three steps:
- Defining the scope
- Transformation
- Output
Termbase connectors
Termbase connectors are currently possible for the following target systems:
- RWS MultiTerm, Trados Terminology, WorldServer
- Acrolinx
- memoQ
- Phrase
- XTM
- PoolParty
